Medical imaging is indispensable in diagnostics. However, understanding and interpreting two-dimensional cross-sectional images is a challenge, especially for students of medical engineering. In the teaching project supported by RWTH Aachen University, BEE and lecturers from the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology have joined forces to train these skills with students of natural sciences and engineering. 3D prints made from anonymized patient data serve as a "tangible" means for students to relate to the 2D image and understand the underlying pathologies. At RWTHtransparent, we were invited to present this teaching project to a larg audience on January 27, 2023. With success!
