The German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved the second funding phase of the DFG consortium PAK 961 "Model-based Control of Biohybrid Implant Maturation" with 10 PhD positions and an amount of 2.074 Mio EUR for another 2 years. The consortium of physicians, biologists, engineers and material scientists from 4 faculties of RWTH Aachen University (Spokesperson: Prof. Schmitz-Rode) investigates the maturation behavior of artificial heart valves with autologous cells and tissue in the bioreactor with the aim of making perfectly biocompatible and permanently functional heart valves available.
